Business model / BOUQUETMAT

Flower retail without staff

Trading without an attendant still involves people. Bouquet preparation, restocking, checks and customer questions need clear ownership

Three things to start with

  • Assign responsibilities
  • Provide a support contact
  • Agree a checking routine

Work handled by self-service

Customers can select, pay for and collect a bouquet themselves, removing the need for a salesperson permanently beside the machine. Flower preparation, delivery, loading and quality checks remain your responsibility. When estimating staffing, separate checkout time from the rest of the work. Self-service changes the allocation of labour rather than eliminating all labour from flower retail

Daily responsibilities

Assign assortment decisions, restocking and technical reports explicitly, splitting them between people when appropriate. Give each task a time and an observable result: inspected display, clean containers or updated prices. Remote information helps schedule work but does not replace physical action. A simple responsibility list prevents routine jobs being missed because the machine appears to be operating independently

Human help for exceptions

Even straightforward self-service can produce a selection, payment or collection question. Provide a support contact and define the team's response. Test both an ordinary purchase and the help process before opening. Customers do not need to understand your internal organisation; they need a clear way to resolve their situation when the normal buying sequence does not go as expected
